What a conference! Over 300 attendees enjoying four days of beautiful weather in Palm Springs; hearing from leading business leaders; participating in content rich Industry Council sessions; networking with processors and fellow suppliers; and, making time for a little fun. Let us be the first to say it, “You should have been there.”  You will see a complete Conference wrap-up in the next edition of FPSA REPORT.

 

One of the most important pronouncements coming out of Conference was the revelation of the new volume pricing schedule for PROCESS EXPO 2008.  Below is a news release that contains the details of the plan.  Let us take this opportunity to focus your attention on some important features and dates for 2008.

 

n      Compare the amount of space you take at a competitive trade show with our volume pricing.  What did you pay at the competitive show?  How much space would you have (including drayage costs) at PROCESS EXPO at the same price?  Check the numbers; you won’t believe them the first time you see them.

 

n      PROCESS EXPO 2008 (again co-located with PACK EXPO) will be held in the new West Building of McCormick Place.  PROCESS EXPO will occupy 200,000 square feet of exhibit space on one, state-of-the-art show floor.

 

n      PROCESS EXPO 2008 will have a new floor layout with an emphasis on developing high traffic zones throughout the floor.

 

n      MEMBERS ONLY round for selection of space will begin in mid-June of 2007. And, ONLY MEMBERS are qualified to select space with the volume discount rates.

 

While we are excited about the 2008 show, we are equally pleased with the upcoming PROCESS EXPO 2007 in Las Vegas, October 15-17.  With six months to go before the opening, the '07 show is already over 10% larger than the 2005 show.  We have already initiated what will be an unprecedented promotional program to attract a record number of customers to your booths.

VOLUME PRICING…A REVOLUTIONARY CONCEPT?

 

(FPSA, McLean, VA) - In the business world volume pricing is hardly revolutionary; it's almost the norm.  But in the one-size-fits-all world of tradeshows, pricing based on the size of booth contracted is truly a novel and revolutionary concept.

 

In an effort to help exhibitors control costs while displaying their product line in the most effective manner, the Food Processing Suppliers Association (FPSA) recently announced the price schedule for PROCESS EXPO 2008.  The new volume pricing schedule includes drayage for move-in and move-out.

 

The new member price schedule is as follows:

            100 sq. ft. to 499 sq.ft.    $23 per sq.ft. (no increase over '07 rate)

 

            500 sq.ft. to 999 sq.ft.     $18 per sq.ft.

 

            1000 sq.ft. to 1499 sq.ft. $15 per sq.ft.

 

            1500 sq.ft. and over        $12 per sq.ft.

 

Viggo Nielsen, Chairman of the Board of FPSA and President of Mettler-Toledo Safeline added, "Encouraging and rewarding exhibitors who bring the latest and the best to attract customers is what PROCESS EXPO is about."  Asked how this new price schedule will affect his company, Gil Foulon, President of Solbern responded, "We’re definitely going to get bigger in '08. It’s an offer we can't afford to turn down."

 

Chairman of the EXPO Committee, Gene Teeter of Meyer Industries discussed the rationale for the change.  "Building a tradeshow is similar to building a mall.  If you have the right anchor stores in place; all the other stores benefit from the draw of the anchors.  This price schedule makes it very attractive to the anchor companies at PROCESS EXPO and all exhibitors and visitors to the show will benefit."

 

PROCESS EXPO 2008 will again be co-located with PACK EXPO.  The '08 event will be housed on one floor in the new West Building of McCormick Place in Chicago November 9th through the 13th.  The design and the state of the art technology of the West Building provides a fitting venue for the best in machinery, supplies, and services to the beverage, food, and pharmaceutical industries.
